Stuck with her off-limits, taciturn, hunky movie star client during a sudden snowstorm on Christmas Eve, an extremely capable and highly professional bodyguard must keep him alive and warm without letting the tension building between them get too hot.

Bathsheba (Beth) Ryan can’t thank her best friend enough for helping her land the job of her dreams. After being relegated to second-string security for politicians in DC, being hired as an undercover personal security specialist by a giant Hollywood studio is exactly the kind of action she's always wanted.

Until she meets her first assignment.

Cyrus Malcom can’t thank his agent enough for arranging a blind date with seemingly the woman of his dreams. After spending the past several years playing all the parts and climbing all the ladders, the lonely mega movie star finds himself actually enjoying a night on the town for the first time in ages when he meets the gorgeous, funny, and genuine Ryaine O’Rourke.

Until she shows up at his studio meeting the next day with a completely different name.

A world-wide press tour and too many late-night parties later, Beth simply needs to get through a short, one-day visit during the Christmas holiday, and then she’ll be free of Cyrus Malcom’s confusing hot looks and cold shoulders for good.

But just as they leave the airport, it starts to snow . . .

‘Drama King’ is the second book in the Three Kings Series, is a full-length, contemporary romantic comedy, and can be read as a complete standalone.

“Unlike the others, she didn’t smile or blush or seem pleased and flattered that I knew her name. No, not my Beth. Her olive green eyes flashed angrily and her upper lip curled, just a faint curve, but enough to remind me of a snarl.”

Penny Reid is an author that never disappoints me. Her latest release, Drama King, is the newest standalone in the Three Kings series and is guaranteed to make your little heart happy with each page that you read.

Drama King follows our heroine, Beth, as she traverses her role as a bodyguard for the wildly famous action star, Cyrus Malcolm. Not only is her meet cute with him not actually the first time they have met, but it is also one of the funniest scenes I’ve read in recent memory. Drama King, in its entirety, could be labeled as a “hilarious swoon-fest.” Beth and Cyrus are both equally attracted to each other, but Beth is a “by the book” kind of a girl and sleeping with a client is strictly off the table for her while on the job. Cyrus is entirely his own kind of person. He categorically isn’t comfortable with the level of fame he’s procured over the course of his career and his struggles to remain true to himself clash almost daily with his fame and the set of needs that come with being a household name.

“In case you haven’t noticed by now, I’m basically the opposite of a mullet: superfluous bravado up front, shockingly little intention or desire to back it up.”

One of the aspects of how Penny Reid writes her books is that the characters aren’t just two dimensional on the page. Her characters are tangibly three dimensional—so lifelike that I feel as if I know them. In my mind, Cyrus and Beth have a weekly argument over the logistics of taking a private jet from LA to Chicago for a sandwich at Al’s Beef, or they rock, paper, scissors, every night for who gets to pick what to watch on TV. Cyrus and Beth each have their own quirks and personalities that are entirely relatable but also real enough that you understand them perfectly.

“I’ve read seven self-help books in two months. I’ve explored my depths. They’re the worst.”

This story is a standalone, so while you may have met Cyrus from last year’s Homecoming King you don’t need to have read it in order to enjoy this unputdownable new release. As you can guess, we also meet our next hero…don’t worry I’ll leave that for the readers who want to experience that little nugget for themselves.  Be sure to get your copy today! Drama King is live and available! I highly recommend this wonderful new romance!
