There's a reason no one messes with a grim...

Livvy Savoie is a people person. Not only does she have the magical gift of persuasion, but her natural charisma charms everyone she meets. She hasn't met a person she didn't like. Until her annoyingly brilliant competitor walks through the door. No matter how hard she denies it, loathing isn't the only emotion she feels for him.

Grim reaper Gareth Blackwater is rarely, if ever, moved beyond his broody, stoic state. But the witch he's partnered with in the public relations contest is destroying his peace of mind. He's convinced that the flesh-melting attraction he feels for her is merely her witchy magic at work.

But forced proximity proves there is more than magic sparking between them. Livvy learns this enigmatic grim's abilities are beyond any supernatural she has ever known. And when Livvy becomes the obsessive target of a dangerous warlock, Gareth proves just how powerful he truly is. Because no one is going to hurt his Lavinia.

LitBuzz is here to bring you a pro-tip before starting Juliette Cross’ newest release in the Stay a Spell series, Always Practice Safe Hex. This is one spicy, panty-melting, enemies to lovers romance, so you’ll want to stock up that unmentionables drawer. You’ve been warned!

It should come as no surprise that the entire LitBuzz Hive are all fans of Juliette Cross, and this latest release has Kristin and I buzzin’! So we decided to do a special post for one of our favorite authors during her release week!

Kristin had some questions for me…

Is Gareth Blackwater your new favorite love interest of all the hunks paired up with the Savoie Sisters? —ABSO-FREAKING-LUTELY he is! There isn’t any character I love more than a dark and broody male who is completely gone for the woman he wants. Basically, Juliette writes heroes tailor-made to make me swoon.

Who do you think still needs a book? —I know we will be getting a book for all the Savoie Sisters, but I secretly hope that this universe grows a bit so all of us devoted fans don’t have to say goodbye in just two books. Ohemgee, can I just tell you that I experienced stomach-clenching dread just typing that sentence?! Juliette, take pity on us magical loving readers!

What is your favorite Juliette Cross book that isn’t from the Stay a Spell series?—I’m not going to lie here. I’ve never met a Juliette Cross book that I didn’t completely devour and rate less than 5 stars. I am completely addicted to Juliette’s brand of storytelling. She’s a phenomenal writer. If she ever needs me, I’ll be ready and willing with a sandwich board professing my love of all her books.

We KNOW that Chapter 18 is ???…could you picture living out that scene with your partner? Be HONEST. —Dang, Kristin. Bringing out the hard hitting questions here. I would absolutely do that scene with my husband, but I’ll be honest: I’d probably have to be a few too many drinks into the evening to care and my husband would absolutely need to be stone. cold. sober.

Behind the scenes LitBuzz chat.
And I have some questions for Kristin…

What did you think of the type of relationship that Gareth and Lavinia (Livvy) have? — I’m soooo glad they didn’t fight their attraction too hard. We know from their growing tension in previous Savoie stories that the two of them thought each other enemies. Neither of them realizing that it was buildup of magnetic sexual chemistry. Once they’re working together in the contest, they don’t waste time fighting their true feelings. They lean into it, and I loved that.

Which of the Savoie Sisters speaks to you the most? Do you have a favorite? — Evie is definitely my favorite witch. She’s always in a graphic tee, and loves Wolverine (same girl). She’s so empathetic, caring, and she makes so many cute references to Marvel. Wolf Gone Wild was my first JC book, so that could have some weight in my choice too ?.

If you could be any type of witch, what kind would you want to be? — I would need to be something that could make a difference for others. I think I’m most like Jules when it comes to motherly emotions and responsibility. I naturally want to take care of my loved ones, even some that are older than me. So I’d probably best be suited for the leadership and power to remove magic from others. If I could choose for fun, I’d say Violet. Tattooing magical symbols on hot AF werewolves would be fun. Plus… NICO!

It seems like each book in this series gets spicier than the next…is there a favorite scene that stands out to you…describe it! Girrrrrrrrrl… I want to describe a certain scene and can’t due to spoilers, so I will safely say my favorite scene is in this book. It has a certain level of intimacy that I have never seen in other romance/erotic stories and it’s not something I’m certain I would even do with my own husband. I think the hottest part is Gareth asking Livvy permission for that moment.

There you have it! Kristin and I continue to be the elite professionals that we are and didn’t even mention the fact that there’s a wet t-shirt contest, or that there’s more grim lore found in this book than any of the other books in the series combined! We also love to recruit Juliette Cross fans, so bee sure to read the Stay a Spell series and then join in on all of our Hive fun on social media!
