Once upon a time, I was a prince.

A single night with Megaera and I'm willing to do anything to save her from Hades, the man holding her captive, victim to his every whim. A bargain with the devil himself seems a small price to pay in order for Megaera to go free… Until I learn that she's exactly where she wants to be.

She's Queen to Hades's King.

And I'm the fool that walked right into their trap. The same fool who desires them both as much as I hate them. I can't resist Megaera's touch―or stop from being drawn to Hades's dark desires. By the time I realize just how deep a game he's playing, it may be too late…For all of us.

“Once upon a time, a woman fell in love with a man. He wasn’t a good man. Men never are, I’ve found. But this woman hadn’t learned the hard lesson yet. She still had stars in her eyes and the kind of innocent love in her heart that the world delights in setting aflame.”

Meg

“Learn My Lesson” by Katee Robert, second book in the Wicked Villains series, follows the story of Hades, Megaera, and Hercules. Three unlikely, unbelievable, unique characters with such different voices and personas that really have no business interacting but actually work so beautifully together. The plot lines, the character arcs, the deception – Robert weaves an expertly tangled web of words to keep readers on the Hook…. Oh wait, that’s the next book.

Disney Villains and Olympus? Strange but it works.

“Learn My Lesson” is set in the depths of a sex club. If this is your first Katee Robert book, it’s a great place to dive in and get the gist. You don’t need to have read “Desperate Measures” – book one in the series – but I definitely recommend going back to it at some point.

“With Hades, there is no give-and-take. He dominates. I submit. The end.”

I almost feel like “Learn My Lesson” should have been the first story in the series because it sets the tone and the stage for the entire series. Hades runs the Underworld, the sex club smack dab in the middle of Carver City, which acts as mostly neutral territory so all of the crime lords have a place to let loose. Hades has been burned by Zeus in a previous life, and ever since Hades has been scheming for payback and revenge.

Revenge that comes in the package of Zeus’ son, Little Hercules the submissive.

The drama! Reader friends, when I tell you I got papercuts from turning the pages so damn quickly. It’s a miracle that the book didn’t catch fire in my hands.

The Deluxe Edition Extras

Much like the rerelease of “Desperate Measures”, the deluxe edition of “Learn My Lesson” is riddled with annotations by the author that provide a lot of insight into their thought process and feelings while writing this wicked romance. I really loved being able to get the author’s perspective, and found that there was a lot layers to the story that I don’t think I would have identified without the commentary. Robert’s interpretation of Hades’ behavior, the relationship with Meg (and eventually Hercules), and all the nuance of his scheming through the author’s eyes was like getting to peek behind the curtain.

You can also look forward to extra scenes and kink surveys from our main characters in the bonus content at the back of the book.

I really enjoyed the “one month anniversary” scene and “Hercules’ punishment”. In fact, I’d love even more on-the-club-floor scenes of Hades and Hercules.

I guess I’ll just have to read the next story to get glimpses of these wicked darlings.
