Enemies become lovers in this sizzling sports romance about taking a chance on love when life’s taught you it’s a losing game.
Oliver Bergman is a beloved rising soccer star, all sunshine smiles and the heart of their team’s spirit. To make matters worse, he’s obscenely attractive. In short: he’s genetically designed to get under misanthropic, miserable Gavin’s aggravated skin.
Ten years older than Oliver and a legendary player at the end of his career, Gavin Hayes is the team’s demanding captain. He’s also a giant–albeit gorgeous–grump who lives to rain on Oliver’s parade. Especially when Oliver and Gavin are named co-captains of the team.
Sick of their hostility, Coach gives them an ultimatum: put an end to their enmity or say goodbye to being captains. Forced to finally to lower their guards, Gavin and Oliver realize that they also have chemistry off the field and it’s fueled by something much more powerful than competition—an explosive attraction.
Mood Readers:
“Everything For You” is the perfect book to pick up RIGHT NOW. It’s Pride Month. There’s a Euro soccer tournament happening this month that Gavin and Ollie would be obsessing over.
Come for the Grumpy/Sunshine trope. Stay for the supportive (and slightly manipulative-but-all-for-the-best-reasons) family ties.
How did the book make you feel?
Would you recommend this book?
150% yes. Chloe Liese does an exceptional job writing beautiful, dynamic, well-rounded characters that pull on a reader’s heartstrings. “Everything For You” checks all of the boxes:
- Witty Banter
- Vulnerability
- Supportive Secondary Characters
- Laugh out loud dialogue
- Emotionally provocative moments that resonate deeply
- Lusty and romantic moments that will make your heart flutter
Though this is part of the Bergman Brothers series, you do not have to read them in order. I would suggest reading book one “Only When It’s Us” so that you get a feel for the Bergman family dynamics and understand how the connections come together, but after that the rest of the books can be read as a standalone.
Would you be friends with the main character IRL?
Oliver is sunshine personified – who wouldn’t want to be friends with him? Especially if we were heading to get coffee together. I wonder what kind of coffee he’d order for me.
Gavin would probably intimidate me, but that wouldn’t stop me from trying to earn a smile or eye roll from him, and each one I managed to steal would bring me inordinant amounts of joy.
What songs would you put on this book’s playlist?
Chloe Liese has a song paired for every chapter, so I highly recommend listening to those that she’s highlighted. However, there are a few songs I’d add to her list:
“That’s What You Get” by Paramore
“Makedamnsure” by Taking Back Sunday
“Lose Control” by Teddy Swims

I’m Val, and I’m excited to share my love of books with you! I’m a sassy Sour Patch kid from New Jersey, dog mom to Chance the beagle, and much like the rest of the Hive, I’m a coffee lover (I think it’s a requirement to be here). The first book I remember reading voluntarily involved a boy wizard who lived in the cupboard under the stairs, and I’ve been chasing magic ever since. I love Happily Ever Afters, and I love love. My favorite genres are romance and rom-coms, fantasy, and young adult/new adult. If I’m not reading, I’m probably kayaking, watching the Great British Baking Show, or discovering a new craft beer.
