"Heart-pounding romance and intense action wrapped in a spellbinding world. I was hooked from the first page!" - Elise Kova, USA Today bestselling author of A Deal with the Elf King.

A warrior princess trained in isolation, Lara is driven by two certainties. The first is that King Aren of the Bridge Kingdom is her enemy. And the second is that she'll be the one to bring him to his knees.

The only route through a storm-ravaged world, the Bridge Kingdom enriches itself and deprives its rivals, including Lara's homeland. So when she's sent as a bride under the guise of peace, Lara is prepared to do whatever it takes to fracture its impenetrable defenses. And the defenses of its king.

Yet as she infiltrates her new home and gains a deeper understanding of the war to possess the bridge, Lara begins to question whether she's the hero or the villain. And as her feelings for Aren transform from frosty hostility to fierce passion, Lara must choose which kingdom she'll save... and which kingdom she'll destroy.

Passionate and violent, The Bridge Kingdom is a seductive fantasy perfect for fans of From Blood and Ash and A Court of Thorns and Roses.

“I will be the next Queen of Ithicana. And I will bring the Bridge Kingdom to its knees.”

The Bridge Kingdom by Danielle L Jensen is the type of fantasy book that you pick up to read and then don’t put it back down until the last page has been read. Take this as a friendly reminder to have all your daily tasks finished before you pick up this completely irresistible and bingeable series, because you will not want to stop at all.

I went into this story feeling a bit salty about some fantasy book recommendations from Bookstagram and Booktok. Both social media outlets for bookish-minded people have since been redeemed after I started reading The Bridge Kingdom. The story begins with an introduction to Lara, a princess trained to be a lethal and efficient assassin. She takes it upon herself to become the chosen princess to be wed to the King of the neighboring kingdom. After years of hellish wars to gain control of the infamous Bridge, Lara’s marriage to the King of Ithicana was part of a treaty set in place to maintain a tenuous peace between the nations. Only marriage isn’t an option for Lara. Her father has tasked Lara to infiltrate Ithicana and assassinate King Aren as well as those around him in order to bring Ithicana to ruin.

“This man is a hunter, she decided. And what he wants is a chase.”

As The Bridge Kingdom unfolds, Aren and Lara dance around each other like two magnets. Their chemistry together is scorching, but they are both stubborn. The storyline is fast-paced and moved at break-neck speed. This is a story that is also so vividly detailed that the images and settings leap off the page in their intensity. If Lara is the perfect assassin Queen, then Aren is the stuff of book boyfriend dreams. These characters are dynamic and perfectly crafted for one another.  Lara discovers that so much of what she was taught was untrue. While her loyalty to her father wanes, she finds that it is replaced with  feelings for Aren and Ithicana that she can’t quite decipher.

If you’re a fantasy reader who loves action, intrigue, warring emotions, beautifully written descriptions and a story that will leave you enthralled until the very end, then The Bridge Kingdom series for you. Oh, and pro tip: have Book Two, The Traitor Queen, ready to go as soon as you finish. You can thank me later!
