Two lonely hearts.
Just once, Alex Emmerling would like to be someone's first choice.
She's strong-willed and spunky, but she's left picking up the pieces from her ex's lies and manipulations, and daydreaming about taking a scalpel to his scrotum.

Flying under the radar is what Riley Walsh does best.
He's laid-back and loyal, but he wants the most off-limits woman in his world, and nothing will ever make that a reality.

An arrangement of mutual benefit.
Two months, four dates.
Five, if things go well.
Five at the most.
But possibly six.
Definitely no more than six dates.
Only the appearance of a romantic relationship is required, and they expect nothing more from their time together. There will be none of those benefits involved.

One wild weekend.
After waking up in bed together—very naked and even more hungover—the terms and conditions of their arrangement no longer apply. Now they're faced with something riskier than exposing their fake relationship: letting go of the past and zipping up the future.

Some things have to fall apart before they can be put back together.

A phenomenal book, by an incredibly talented author, about a family that will claim your very heart and soul.

I. Just. Can’t. My words will be completely inadequate to describe just how unbelievably amazing this book is. Of course, I expected nothing less from Kate Canterbary. The woman is an absolute master at her craft. And this latest installment of the Walsh series has left me completely wrecked. In the best of ways.

Every author is given the same words to work with. Kate’s ability to take and mold those words into complete works of art is nothing short of magic. For me, the Walsh siblings are, for sure, the best thing since sliced bread. There is no doubt that they have their issues, but when it all comes down to it, they will move heaven and earth to be there for each other and their loved ones.

Preservation introduces us to the sixth and youngest sibling. Riley is this absolutely beautifully exceptional character and his special someone is the perfect person to allow those qualities to be recognized and realized. He is endearing, sweet, clumsy and at times a completehot mess, but there is no way you can not fall in love with him. His special someone is brilliant, tough, wary and determined. But she gets Riley, she comprehends the depth he is capable of and she appreciates him for his loyalty and despite his faults.

I cried for Riley in sadness, in anger, in heartbreak, in desperation, with love and also, most importantly with joy. I am constantly amazed at how much Kate Canterbary can fit into a book- both the wealth of information and the quantity of emotions . I only wish I had a fraction of Kate’s talent, just so I’d be able to explain to her just how phenomenal an author she is, and just how much this book made me feel. This book is a marvel and I will be rereading it, and the rest of the Walsh series many times over for years to come.

Five stars are not enough
