Welcome Back to Spunes!
Welcome back to Spunes, readers! “Savor It” was my introduction to Tarah DeWitt, and I admit to falling in love with the town and it’s cast of characters just as much as I did with Fisher and Sage, so I’m really glad that DeWitt brought us back to this lovely small town on the coast of Oregon. (Not to be confused with Forks, Washington. IYKYK.)
“Left of Forever” can be read as a standalone novel, but I think you’d be doing yourself a disservice if you don’t go back and meet Wren and Ellis through the eyes of the adorable and delightful Sage Byrd. I especially recommend the audio for “Savor It” if you’re looking to switch things up.
Left of Forever
“Left of Forever” is filled with banter and roasting jokes that can only come from two people who really, truly know one another. On top of that, though, there is also many layers of emotional depth. The movement from joke to emotional development and back to joke is so swift and fluid. DeWitt’s writing appears to be effortless, which is a huge testament to how devoted she is to her craft.
“There’s something to be said for being able “We’ve spent more than half our lives being Sam’s Mom and Sam’s Dad. Who the hell are we meant to be beyond this?”
Wren and Ellis’ story is what we’ve all been waiting for since being teased about their history in “Savor It”. These two have begged to be known from the beginning, and it was a real joy to learn who they were meant to be.
What I Loved
If you’re someone who likes to read reviews, you’re going to read a lot of similar reviews about “Left of Forever”. It’s amazing. It’s an excellent second book of a series, and it deserves all the flowers and gold stars. To that end, I’m going to keep my love-list brief, but just know that I adored it.
- Exceptional Second Chance Romance – seriously, between Tarah DeWitt and Lyla Sage’s latest “Wild & Wrangled”, I’m becoming a Second Chance fan.
- (Not so) Anonymous Letters
- A road trip to force proximity
Have I mentioned before that letter writing is my favorite thing in a book? Because it is. I live for declarations of love and longing. Words of Affirmation is my love language after all. The only critique that I would give is that I wish Wren and Ellis’ letters went on a little longer, but I know why they didn’t, and it makes sense. I won’t go further because it’s definitely *spoilers* and I wouldn’t want to do that to you all if you haven’t finished yet.
Final Thoughts
Grab this book if you’re a fan of second chance, small town romance, and declarations of love. Ellis is a simp for Wren, and he’s doing everything that he can to win her back.
I enjoyed every single second of reading this and wish it could have continued forever, but then we wouldn’t get the HEA that we’re promised in a romance. There were a few moments and glimpses of what another Spunes novel could be. Tarah, I am here for it! I see Micah pulling at some heartstrings, and I’m ready for those tears. I’ll start pre-hydrating now.

I’m Val, and I’m excited to share my love of books with you! I’m a sassy Sour Patch kid from New Jersey, dog mom to Chance the beagle, and much like the rest of the Hive, I’m a coffee lover (I think it’s a requirement to be here). The first book I remember reading voluntarily involved a boy wizard who lived in the cupboard under the stairs, and I’ve been chasing magic ever since. I love Happily Ever Afters, and I love love. My favorite genres are romance and rom-coms, fantasy, and young adult/new adult. If I’m not reading, I’m probably kayaking, watching the Great British Baking Show, or discovering a new craft beer.
