The grumpy recluse begrudgingly rents me his guest house if I agree to leave him alone. Too bad I've never been good at doing what I'm told.
I am in desperate need of a place to live when my ex-boyfriend unceremoniously kicks me out weeks before a huge break in my career. Things look hopeless until I find a listing for a home that would be perfect, complete with a concise list of dos and don'ts. All I have to do is ignore the alarmingly good-looking owner, Levi, and follow his strict rules.
As the days pass and I continue to push boundaries it gets harder to avoid his sweet compassion, capable hands, and attractive glower. The lines of our strict owner/tenant relationship continue to blur as the truth behind his protective shell is uncovered.
Can I let him be or will my instincts for information trample the intense attraction growing between us?
I'm under deadline, over my head and (F)all shook up thinking about Levi.
FALL SHOOK UP is a charming autumn-inspired small-town romantic comedy about a reclusive artist and the nosey journalist who wants answers. Grab a pumpkin spice latte, a warm fuzzy blanket, and make your way down to Cozy Creek. Each book in the series is a complete stand alone with a happily ever after.
I carefully curated my loner, woodsman reputation and wasn’t planning on changing that anytime soon.
Piper Sheldon’s latest romance, Fall Shook Up, is part of The Cozy Creek Collection and features swoony opposites attract romance in a small town. I’ve been a fan of Piper Sheldon for years, so I didn’t need any convincing to pick up (and promptly fall for) Claire and the grumpy recluse, Levi, who begrudgingly lets her rent a cabin on his property in the mountains near Cozy Creek.
We meet Claire as she discovers herself in a bit of a pickle. Not only is she on a deadline, but she’s without a place to live, and needs to get away from her horrendous, money-chasing ex ASAP. When she finds a listing for a rental in Cozy Creek, she’s intrigued. When she finds the listing comes with a strict set of rules, she’s in.
As I sprinted up the trail, a ferocious fear propelled my feet. Nothing could happen to her. Protect her at all costs.
Levi truly doesn’t want to be bothered. I would argue that his heart outweighs his introverted artistic eccentricities. I love that he accepted Claire’s rental application only to find out that she’s the one who had verbal diarrhea in the general store in town and then also stole the heart of his own dog. With Claire’s natural inquisitiveness only heightened with her job as a journalist, Levi proves to be too enigmatic to leave alone. Even Levi can’t help himself when in comes to Claire as her natural sunshine demeanor begins to thaw his icy exterior.
With a rescue scene that made me swoon, a bathtub scene that made my glasses fog up (I’m not even joking, hello spice!), supporting characters that I equally adore, and a designer dog that I wish would snuggle in bed with me too, I couldn’t put Fall Shook Up down. Piper Sheldon delivers on spice, on romance, and so much swoon, but she also delivers a wonderfully emotional and mental health cognizant character arc.
How many times could I take deep inhales of his chest and neck area before I weirded him out? Chances were, I’d passed that line the moment I met him.
With every book that I’ve read from The Cozy Creek Collection, I’ve fallen a bit more in love with the fictional town of Cozy Creek. I want a road trip to the mountains where we can sit in a cabin with a fireplace and binge watch Gilmore Girls. Who’s with me? Fall Shook Up is available now for you to read! Don’t miss out!
