Harper Calloway is the one who got away.

Gorgeous. Vivacious. Witty. Everything my introverted self could never be. And though that single night five years ago is all I had with her, there’s no forgetting the girl who steals your heart.

So when the woman in question shows up on my doorstep demanding an annulment for a drunken Vegas wedding I don’t fully remember, it seems like a sign. A second chance to make good on that connection I’ve never felt with anyone else.

Except she doesn’t have any interest in reconnecting, even as things between us heat up the longer she stays in town. What will it take to convince her I want forever?

- Harper -

Owen Taylor is not who I expected.

Protective. Thoughtful. Humble. And the sexy lumberjack vibe he’s got going on? Who knew I was such a sucker for that?

I didn’t come to Crescent Pass to start anything up. My life is in Chicago, not the forests of the Pacific Northwest. But the longer I stay here waiting for an annulment, the harder it is to resist this rugged mountain man who shows me for the first time what it’s like to be understood. Cherished. Worshipped.

We both knew from the beginning this couldn’t last. So why has he gone and stolen my heart?

He stands and holds his hand out for me to take, just as warm and rough as it was earlier, and keeps hold of it as we walk up the last bit. Duke nuzzles my other palm, sticking by my side. It sounds silly, but in between the two of them, it feels like nothing bad can happen.

A Forest Between Us by Allie Winters is entirely fun and filled with everything I love about a great romance story. What happens when you realize what happens in Vegas doesn’t actually just stay within Las Vegas city limits? For Harper, it means she decides to travel from Chicago to Oregon to confront her husband and ask for a divorce…once she realizes that she’s been married for the last five years.

I freaking love this premise. Not only do I relate to Harper with having her taking the iconic “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” phrase literally, because sometimes even the sharpest pencil in the box needs to re-sharpened, but I also love that Harper’s husband Owen is actually her perfect man. While she has a fast-paced marketing job and friends that she loves, Harper’s life in Chicago isn’t all it’s cracked up to be even if she’s trying to make the best of out everything. So when she travels to go ask Owen for an annulment , of course the Universe wouldn’t make it easy on her.

“Sometimes the best decisions are made with the heart, not the head.”

Owen Taylor is a man who has been gone for exactly one woman ever since a drunken weekend in Las Vegas and he hasn’t gotten over her since. This man. This beautiful, sweet, romantic man. Owen Taylor will steal your hearts, readers—just trust me. I honestly really enjoyed that Owen took a bit of coaxing before he was comfortable enough to show his cards to Harper. I also liked that once he set his mind to it, he did everything he could to prove to Harper that she could be happy in his small mountain town.

Both Harper and Owen needed to prove to each other that they could handle being in each other’s lives but they also needed to prove it to themselves that being lucky for one weekend in Vegas wasn’t just a fluke. I like that both Owen and Harper were genuinely supportive of each other even if Harper was stubborn about filing for an annulment. Their second chance romance is not one to miss out on. A Forest Between Us has all the feels that you want in a romance read for this time of year.

“It’s so much better. Everything with you is better.”

Allie Winters has written a fantastically swoony contemporary adult romance and I couldn’t be more tickled that I was able to get an early copy. A Forest Between Us releases tomorrow November 16th, and you absolutely need to read it!
