New York Times bestselling author Rachel Hawkins, writing as Erin Sterling, casts a spell with a spine-tingling romance full of wishes, witches, and hexes gone wrong.
Nine years ago, Vivienne Jones nursed her broken heart like any young witch would: vodka, weepy music, bubble baths…and a curse on the horrible boyfriend. Sure, Vivi knows she shouldn’t use her magic this way, but with only an “orchard hayride” scented candle on hand, she isn’t worried it will cause him anything more than a bad hair day or two.
That is until Rhys Penhallow, descendent of the town’s ancestors, breaker of hearts, and annoyingly just as gorgeous as he always was, returns to Graves Glen, Georgia. What should be a quick trip to recharge the town’s ley lines and make an appearance at the annual fall festival turns disastrously wrong. With one calamity after another striking Rhys, Vivi realizes her silly little Ex Hex may not have been so harmless after all.
Suddenly, Graves Glen is under attack from murderous wind-up toys, a pissed off ghost, and a talking cat with some interesting things to say. Vivi and Rhys have to ignore their off the charts chemistry to work together to save the town and find a way to break the break-up curse before it’s too late.
Something deliciously witchy this way comes…
The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling is full of witchy fun! This romance is hexy and sexy and you’ll be feeling all the Spooky Season vibes with this amazing second chance romance.
If you love stories with empowered females, small town quirks, and paranormal hauntings then The Ex Hex should be at the top of your reading pile not just during Halloween—Erin Sterling (Rachel Hawkins pen name) has created a fun romance good all year ‘round.
“Never mix vodka and witchcraft.”
After an abrupt and heart-wrenching breakup, Vivi and her cousin Gwyn accidently curse Vivi’s ex-boyfriend—Welsh warlock Rhys Penhallow. Cut to nine years later and one semi-mended heart later, Vivi thinks everything is fine until she learns Rhys is coming back to town in order to celebrate Founder’s Day in her small town of Graves Glen. Things start to go wonky for Rhys as soon as he crosses the town’s borders. Wonky goes to absolutely bonkers when Rhys and Vivi realize that her hex has turned some-what worse as he attempts the yearly magical tradition of fortifying the town’s magic.
What I loved most about The Ex Hex is that even though Vivi and Rhys are tasked with figuring out how to set the town back to normal and remove the curse from Rhys…it’s also a romance and their chemistry is off the charts. So what should have been investigated quickly is not because of how quickly they combust around each other. Which of course made me giggle to no end!
“She was normally a completely rational and calm person, and Rhys Penhallow made her totally lose her mind.”
Between the mystery surrounding the founding of Graves Glen, the hex turned curse, and the appearance of one cantankerous ghost, I was utterly bewitched by this book! Erin/Rachel has written such a fun story. I was engrossed with every new detail that came to light and I loved that this second chance romance had a very fulfilling Happily Ever After.
The Ex Hex is definitely one of my highlights for the year, and honestly it spoke to my witchy-loving heart in the best of ways. I loved Vivi and I loved that she and Rhys had an equally satisfying romance as well!
