In this steamy tale by USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn, an American searching for her purpose escapes to a Scottish town but finds more questions than answers when she meets a brooding yet handsome handyman.

Freshly fired from her third job in a row, Bonnie St. James has lost her way. So when she and her best friend stumble upon a “help wanted” post to run a coffee shop in the Scottish Highlands, they apply on a whim. Who knows? Maybe traveling to a new place is just what she needs to figure out her next move.

When the friends arrive in the tiny idyllic town of Corsekelly, they instantly fall for the gorgeous Highland landscape and friendly townspeople. But Bonnie finds a less-than-warm welcome in Rowan MacGregor, the rugged local handyman. Busy wrestling his own demons, Rowan’s in no mood to deal with the quirky American―even if she is a bonny lass.

As Bonnie and Rowan’s paths inevitably cross, insults―and sparks―fly. Can the pair build on their similarities to help each other find purpose and direction…and maybe romance too? Or will their passionate tempers fling them apart?

The surefire cure to your travel bug!

I was not expecting The Highland Fling by Meghan Quinn to make me miss Scotland as much it did. I was ready for the classic bawdy humor that I associate with a Meghan Quinn romance, and I even was expecting the perfectly wrought emotions that were done exactly right. But to be able to awaken my inner travel bug and make me miss Scotland was something I didn’t expect.

I suspect it has something to do with how well Meghan Quinn captures the small, fictional town of Corsekelly, and how she can inject so much life, and vitality into all the town’s inhabitants. I also think that the exact right mix of friendship, new love, and the everlasting allure of being able to find yourself while in a foreign destination is also the reason why The Highland Fling was unputdownable.

“Trust me, lass, if I was checking you out, you’d know it.”

The Highland Fling is a romance, first and foremost. Bonnie and her best friend, Dakota, decide to take on the adventure of running a coffee shop for six months. After Bonnie loses her job, and Dakota is reeling from a bad breakup, the Highlands of Scotland were calling…and the Americans had their bags packed and were on a plane to answer it. Travel romances are fabulous in my opinion.

“Oh no…this isn’t good at all. It’s happening. I think I’m crushing on Kilby McGrumpyshire.”

A travel romance with both friends falling for Scottish locals? Even better. Bonnie and Rowan have the best chemistry. I loved their dynamic. Their playful antics are what made me fall for this book. What’s even better than one relationship dynamic? It’s definitely two! Bonnie and Dakota work on their friendship as well, while each of the ladies struggle to find the balance between their relationship and their new love interests in town.

Meghan Quinn definitely put heart and soul into The Highland Fling. Between the hilarious antics, the swoony gestures, and a mildly weird town goat named Fergus, The Highland Fling is the perfect book to get lost in if you need a quick jaunt to Scotland!
