The de Russe Legacy Series by Kathryn Le Veque

Historical Romance at its finest…
The de Russe Legacy series by Kathryn Le Veque are wonderfully woven tales of intrigue and love set in Medieval England between 1300 and 1500 AD. The series sequence is numbered so that each story is in chronological order. Every book is a stand alone that follows the de Russe family and their close friends. There are occasional overlap of characters in different books as stories about close friends are told or as the children of main characters grow into their own tales. Each books ends with a HEA for the main characters and may lay a foundation for the next story in the series.
The de Russe Legacy is everything I think a great historical romance should be. Le Veque is both a historian and a fiction writer. Her research and knowledge is extensive and she frequently puts notes in the beginning of stories as to pertinent historical information of that time. She uses time and place appropriate mannerisms and language as well as actual day to day activities that were normal for that time. It is probably one of my biggest pet peeves when authors write historical romances and try to incorporate modern colloquialisms and ideals into the lives of people of another time. It takes away from the authenticity of their story.
But do not think for a minute that because these stories are historically accurate that they are dull or tame in anyway. Each story is full of royal intrigue and suspense and give a true sense of how brutal and corrupt Medieval society was. She also creates characters that are unique and appealing, but who also find love and some extremely hot attraction within the pages of each book. You will become deeply invested in each and every tale and never feel like she is just rerunning the same story and character formats.
If you are looking for a great summer series take a trip back to Medieval England through the de Russe Series beginning with Lord of War: Black Angel (The de Russe Legacy Book 1).
Tanya’s love for books has been a lifelong passion that she likes sharing with others. Reading is also the thing that relaxes her after a day of juggling the many responsibilities that come with being being wife to an amazing man, mother to four great kids spread around the world, business manager, and farm hand on their place in southwest Missouri; home to Akaushi cattle and a menagerie of pygmy goats, horses, chickens, dogs and cats.
