I am a middle school math teacher and proud science nerd. I grew up on the beaches of Southern California and consider myself a “surfer girl” at heart.
As the daughter of an ex-drug smuggling surfer and a librarian, two of my greatest loves in life are the ocean and books. I adore all things science and fantasy. I am a huge fan of Harry Potter (proud Gryffindor) and other young adult fiction stories.
I love writing about meaningful characters and deep emotions, especially in a fantasy or science fiction setting. I hold a degree in psychology, which serves me well in emotionally connecting with others. I try to use my own personal experiences in my writing whenever I can. I firmly agree with Robert Frost when he says “No tears in the writer, no tears in the reader.”
I am a member of the SCBWI (Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators), Romance Writers of America (RWA), and the Idaho Writers Guild. I am also represented by Samantha Wekstein of Writers House LLC. I won the 2017 Chicago RWA’s Fire and Ice contest in the Young Adult category, the 2018 Silver Quill Award in Wisconsin RWA’s Fab Five Contest in the Young Adult Category, and the 2018 Orange Rose contest (Young Adult category) through OCCRWA.
I am a writing blogger with “Quills and Inkblotts” and have had three short stories published. My first novel trilogy is coming soon from Blackstone Publishing!
Kristin lives in the PNW with her husband, and three kids. She loves to read YA fiction, fantasy, and romance. She enjoys a few side-hustles, including creating bookreels/booktoks for authors. The only shows she watches are re-runs, and if she’s not reading a book, she’s listening to one.
