The Soul of an Angel
Havenwood Falls High
Paranormal Romance (YA)
December 8, 2017
Breckin Roberts has known Vivienne his entire life. Born and raised in Havenwood Falls, they attend the same school, eat at the same restaurants, and enjoy the same festivals. But they aren’t friends. They’re merely two classmates—her human and him not so much. Until one fateful December afternoon.
When Vivienne Freeman awakens late that night, disheveled and disoriented, the last thing she remembers is going for a run, but something feels . . . off. It’s not until the gorgeous but ever elusive Breckin Roberts approaches her out of the blue that she learns she almost died. And he’s the one who saved her.
Or so he thought.
Turns out, saving Vivienne has opened her to a whole new kind of danger. Breckin is an angel who interfered with Death. It’s a slight easily forgiven, if not for the connection he awakens while healing her. A connection one Reaper finds highly appealing. A connection that could turn Vivienne into a pawn in the battle of Good versus Evil—a battle about to descend on Havenwood Falls.
This is a Young Adult paranormal romance in the Havenwood Falls High series of Young Adult fantasy stories featuring a variety of supernatural creatures. The series is a collaborative effort by multiple authors. Each book is generally a stand-alone, so you can read them in any order, although some authors will be writing sequels to their own stories. Please be aware when you choose your next read.
Love Can Awaken the Soul of an Angel
Breckin Roberts has accepted his legacy as the offspring of a fallen angel, to join his father’s legion upon turning eighteen, and to be mostly done with the human world. At least that is what he is ruminating over when we meet him at the outset of Awaken the Soul. But everything comes crashing down around him when he smells the scent of blood, and sees a beautiful girl being attacked by an unknown paranormal creature. When he sees that it is one of his classmates, Vivienne, Breckin makes a split second decision to save her, thinking his strong desire to do so is weird and random…but he will later learn that it is anything but random. By the end of the book, there seems to be a strong possibility that his human soul, and the fate of many of the fallen angels, hinges on his spontaneous actions.
The romance between Breckin and Vivienne is just what I have been looking for; I have been on the hunt for a good paranormal romance to fill the void until additional installments of some of my favorite series release in 2018. And this more than filled that void…it’s a real page-turner, with plenty of suspense and tender romance . The romance is definitely PG, and pretty darn wholesome, as Breck and Vivi fall hopelessly in love in the purest soul-achingly sweet ways. Even though it is definitely YA, the romance is so delightful that its lack of spice is no problem at all, in fact it seems all the more real and worthy of appreciation, because it focuses on emotions and the desire of Breck and Vivi to just be in love and get to know each other like normal people do in spite of the fact that Breckin has wings and a rebel angel for a father. I read it over two nights, and while the ending was satisfying, a few cliff hangers are left dangling before readers, to keep them wanting more…but we’ll have to wait until this summer to get it! But never fear! The Havenwood Falls High series is a collaboration of authors, many of whom are Lit Buzz favorites, to create a paranormal universe replete with all types of creatures and romances, with a new novella releasing each month, giving readers plenty to keep them occupied. I definitely plan on checking out the rest, and would recommend that all paranormal romance fans get started on this gem of a series!
Meghan is a coffee connoisseur, devoted milspouse, and exhausted momma to a three year old daughter and three dogs. She enjoys hiking, glamping, and traveling. You are mostly likely to find her reading good books in a hammock with a view of the ocean or mountains.

Amazing Review Meghan!!!! I agree, and I can’t wait to read more. Each installment is like a little taste of your favourite sweet, amazing, but not enough to totally satisfy, and definitely leaves you craving more.
