The last thing Brighton Starling needed on one of the most humiliating days of her life was to run into her ex...

Naturally, she did. And two years after he walked away, leaving her hurt and broke, he somehow managed to look better than ever. Of course.

She didn't want to see him, let alone speak to him, but apparently, he wasn't going to give her a choice.

All Sebastian Figures wanted was to talk to the one that got away...No, scratch that. The one he drove away with poor decisions and lies, big and small.

She might have been having a bad day, but she was still the bright, beautiful girl he'd been missing for far too long. His brightest star. Still the only girl he'd ever want. If only he could convince her of that.

Is it too late to say sorry?Sebastian wants a chance to win back Brighton's trust--and her future.
Brighton wants to be able to move on from the past, once and for all.But neither of them want to say one final goodbye...

What would you do if the person who was your whole world suddenly disappeared, taking with him your entire future, all in one fell swoop?

This is the reality of Brighton Starling’s life. She lives in her tiny, but comfortable apartment, writing her children’s books, and occasionally venturing out toPanera. But she has closed herself off to most of the world. It’s been just over two years, but the hurt is still fresh. The memories run through her mind daily. The man she loved, the house she dreamed of, the future she held so close, all gone in a moment. She has not gotten over it, or him.

But Sebastian Figures has returned. Just over two years ago he lost his Bright Star, the woman he loved more than anything and completely destroyed the future they planned together. A gambling addict, Sebastian risked and lost every penny they had, the house they were about to buy, and his girl, by default and left without looking back. Rehab, recovery and halfway houses done, he’s back. He’s come to atone for his past behavior and to win back his North Star.

Seb sends Brighton daily gifts- funny, ironic, sweet, sentimental, he texts her every morning and every night. He confesses the sins of his past and he professes his never-ending love for her. But it’s up to Brighton to forgive, to accept and to move forward. And that will take a lot of doing, despite the fact that she also has never, ever, stopped loving him. With time, and conversation and help from Seb’s family, and supportive friends Declan and Jade, Sebastian and Brighton work through their issues and eventually begin to find their way back to each other. But can their hopefor the future be shattered with one small mistake? Or are they strong enough to last this time?

If you didn’t know, you would think that Ms. Cranford was a seasoned author, rather than this being her first book. Her writing style, her language, her character descriptions and interactions are all so well done. It is truly amazing. This book is fantastic. There are hundreds of little moments that will break you and then rebuild you. You will definitely laugh. You will definitely cry. And you will definitely fall in love, with both Seb and Bright, and with author Beth Cranford.
