The final chapter in the global blockbuster Crossfire quintet
Gideon Cross. Falling in love with him was the easiest thing I’ve ever done. It happened instantly. Completely. Irrevocably.
Marrying him was a dream come true. Staying married to him is the fight of my life. Love transforms. Ours is both a refuge from the storm and the most violent of tempests. Two damaged souls entwined as one.
We have bared our deepest, ugliest secrets to one another. Gideon is the mirror that reflects all my flaws … and all the beauty I couldn’t see. He has given me everything. Now, I must prove I can be the rock, the shelter for him that he is for me. Together, we could stand against those who work so viciously to come between us.
But our greatest battle may lie within the very vows that give us strength. Committing to love was only the beginning. Fighting for it will either set us free ... or break us apart.
Heartbreakingly and seductively poignant, One with You is the breathlessly awaited finale to the Crossfire saga, the searing love story that has captivated millions of readers worldwide.
One With You Did Not Live Up To Its Expected Potential
Anyone who knows me will tell you I LOVE THE CROSSFIRE SERIES. Ever since the first book, I was addicted. I stuck with this series through the annoyance of the extension from a trilogy to going to a 5 book series. I thought some of the books were a bit of a stretch but still good, unfortunately, I can’t say that this time. After a year of waiting for this book, I made sure I ordered it and got it on release day (even got the physical book, not just a digital copy), and to my surprise, it was such a disappointment.
Let’s start with the positives and wow moments. ALOT less sex! I know what you’re thinking what’s an erotic novel without sex? Well let me tell you I am all about steamy sexy bits but if it’s on every other page it gets kind of boring. A few burning questions that have been left from the previous books get answered(not many though). We really find out about Evas mother Monica, a little more history on what happened to Gideon and I like how his family relationships are progressing for the most part. Eva and Gideon are getting it together as well FINALLY!
So what was the bad? The entire book I felt like was a waste of time I felt as if I was reading a creative way to recap the last 4 books with few tidbits of new things. The only really interesting thing to happen was learning about Monica’s story and also how Ann Lucas had her diabolical plan. The Sex was kind of boring too. What bothered me the most was that I just could not get into the story the more I read the more I felt like there were loose ends and things that were not explained.
It seemed like Sylvia’s main focus was to remind us that they have only been together for 3 months. and in these three months they have got together, started couples therapy, have made gigantic strides to having a healthy relationship, Eva has caused hell by confronting Gideon’s past, Eva has had an ex-boyfriend write a song about her and caused him and Gideon to have a fight, almost sex tape, Reporter trying to play the woman scorned over Mr. Cross, have a tell-all book being written, Gideon’s ex-fiance has a mental breakdown and a miscarriage. They get married, and did I mention an entire murder investigation happened during this time as well? I think you get the point it was not immersive enough. During the other books, we knew they were moving fast but it was easy to forget how long they were together time was not really mentioned as often It would have been more believable if it was over a year span rather than 3 months.
Nothing in One With You really answered any questions that were left off in book 4. We still don’t really know what is going to happen with Trey. Eva still is not working for Cross industries even though she is “helping” Gideon with some things it is just not the same. The final outcome of Gideon’s family is still a mystery and a frustrating one at that. I really wanted to know what was going to happen with Corrine’s book. I didn’t like how it was left for you to guess what happened. Did she release it? Is she that upset over Deanna? I have no idea but I wish I did.
I feel like I have gotten to Know Gideon and Eva pretty well over the course of these 5 books and One with You made me feel like I was reading characters that were not the same at all. It was not a matter of characters growing up but their personalities were different altogether. And the book was just not that entertaining and the epilogue was a waste of time.

I felt the same after reading it! Thanks for the honest review.
Unfortunately, it can’t always be a great book. But if you’re not honest about the mediocre ones, who will ever believe you about the amazing ones, right? =) I encourage all our reviewers to keep to the “honesty is the best policy” mantra, even when it isn’t popular. *shrugs*

P.S. Love you, Ashley!

I am glad to know I am not the only one :). It was really disappointing because I was so looking forward to it, but she really should have just kept it at 3 books instead of stretching it to the 5.
